SHOULD WE ALWAYS TELL THE TRUTH?

SHOULD WE ALWAYS TELL THE TRUTH? (Controversial topic)

Should we always tell the truth? Well I believe that the truth should be told only when the outcome is beneficial and you should lie when appropriate. William Blake once said “A truth that’s told with bad intent Beats all the lies you can invent.
Such motivations for lying are: some harmless, selfless reasons, bad intent, attempt at protecting yourself. Just remember, the more you lie, the easier it becomes. Also, if people find out that you have lied, your character is ruined. A common statement kids here from parents is that after the kid has committed a nuisance, and the parent finds out, they’ll say “I’m disappointed that you broke my glasses, but I’m even more disappointed that you lied to me about it”

But on the other hand, telling the truth usually leads to benefits and builds strong character. There are certain scenarios where you have to lie, or instinctively lie, as it is such part of the human character. If your mother prepared a meal that’s rather disappointing, you feel a need to lie and pretend to enjoy the meal. If someone enjoys preparing meals, why should we selfishly take that pleasure away from them?

  1. I see this is the revised version. It's a pretty good speech! Good luck doing it pseudo-impromptu for tomorrow.
